In conjunction with FML Project Services and Allcott Associates, Anthony White Consulting Ltd were appointed to undertake an option study for the heating and hot water installation at Manor Farm, Hardwick, Oxfordshire.
The study conducted by Anthony White Consulting Ltd considered and advised on the options and budget costs for the heating and hot water installations as part of a larger scheme of refurbishment to convert the existing Garde II Listed Manor House and barn outbuildings which are sert in 30 acres of Oxfordshire countryside, to a Wellness Retreat that provides a range of accomodation and leisure facilities.
Due to the rural location of the property, the fuel source was oil and the options considered included bio fuels, heat pumps plus additional viable renewable energy and low carbon solutions including solar PV.
The study identified that the most energy efficient solutions that utilised renewable energy sources were: -
New electrically driven high temperatuire (HT) air source heat pumps providing heating in conjunction with radiator heat emitters in the Grade II Listed Manor House and low temperature (LT) air source heat pumps in conjunction with wet underfloor heating within the developed outbuildings.
New centralised high temperature (HT) heat pumps with hot water storage calorifiers would meet the high demand for domestic hot water to wash hand basins, sinks, baths and showers.
Additionally, a new solar photovoltaic (PV) array installed at ground level on land that is not being developed or used for outdoor leisure activities, would supplement and, reduce the mains power supply upgrade required for the property.
